No. We checked. There’s no common-law marriage in North Carolina; we’d have to move to South Carolina for that!<\/p>\n

Sunday, May 30, 2010, in the evening. (This is Sunday of Memorial Day weekend.)<\/p>\n

What should I wear?<\/strong><\/p>\n

We’re planning for cocktail formality. \u00c2\u00a0This generally means dark suits for men and cocktail dresses for women. \u00c2\u00a0That said, we’re not going to throw anyone out for “breaking dress code”! \u00c2\u00a0Anything generally wedding-appropriate is cool.<\/p>\n

So can I wear black?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes. \u00c2\u00a0The bridesmaids will be wearing black dresses, so we clearly don’t feel that black is inappropriate!<\/p>\n

Yes. She beat him to the punch. He\u00e2\u20ac\u2122d been saving, but hadn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t gotten the money together yet. Check the gallery page for a picture of the ring.<\/p>\n

What does the engraving on Keith\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s wedding band mean?<\/strong><\/p>\n

This says pretty much everything you need to know about Keith and Carrie. A single line runs around the circumference of the ring. The ratio of the two sections is 1.618 : 1\u00c2\u00a0 This is the golden ratio, which is said to be the closest thing to a mathematical standard of beauty. Keith and Carrie are both pretty scientifically minded people with a strong artistic bent. Or perhaps they are both very artistic people with a strong scientific side. Either way, the symbolism works out.<\/p>\n

Keith will be wearing it as a wedding band when the time comes.<\/p>\n

Why isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t there a flower girl\/ring bearer?<\/strong><\/p>\n

We\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re keeping the whole thing small. Also, there\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s really no one to do it. Keith is from a small family, of which he is tied for oldest of his generation. Carrie is from a significantly larger family, but also the oldest.<\/p>\n

A few have suggested that our cats, Ada and June, be our flower girls. While the image of a little white cat strapped to a flower basket hissing at everyone from under a chair is an intriguing one, we don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t feel it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s the right one for our wedding.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
